BOOT Biweekly Community Classes create a consistent, welcoming space for the Houston dance community to train together. Held every other Tuesday, these open-level classes feature rotating teachers and styles, offering fresh perspectives while staying rooted in strong technique and artistry.

Classes take place 10:00 AM – 11:15 AM at Frame Dance — 2426 Bartlett St Suite D & E, Houston, TX 77098.

The spring series runs February 24 through May 19.

March 24 | Contemporary Floowork with Isabella Mireles Vik

This contemporary floorwork and movement class focuses on creating pathways on the floor, vigorous movement and soft acrobatics (which combines contemporary practices with inversions and flight). In this advanced level class, movers will focus on comfortability to experiment with new movement modalities through technical work, coordination and improvisation. Please wear long pants and a shirt that covers the shoulders, knee pads and long sleeves aren't required, but good to have with you.

About Isabella: Isabella Mireles Vik is an interdisciplinary artist based in Houston, Texas with a focus on contemporary movement, improvisation and body performance art. Vik uses these elements to find the intersections in movement and experimental performance to create work questioning the human condition and societal struggles pertaining to the working class, gender, psychology and spiritual belief. Vik’s preprofessional training was under Luis Fuentes and Mischa Bart at her home studio in Houston under artistic director Lynette Mason Greg predominantly in vaganova ballet and post-modern dance. Their professional training has continued with a strong focus on contemporary dance technique involving floor work, acrobatics, improvisation and physical theater. Vik has continued their research through workshops and festivals including Atlas Dance Festival 2023 and 2025, three consecutive returns to B12, Fighting Monkey technique, Sidra Bell’s Module (Summer 2022) and Kevin Clark’s Soluq Source (Fall 2021).  Vik has trained with a variety of artists including; Anton Lachky, Laja Field, Victor Rottier, Sadé Alleyne, Sita Osthiemer, Satoshi Kudo, Lewis Welkins, Francisco Cardovo, Edivaldo Ernesto, Haracio Macuacua, Peter Jasko, Lisard Tarnis and Cree Barnett Williams. Over a span of three years, Vik has self produced and performed in 11 different works for both film, stage, galleries and impractical spaces. They have also lent themselves to the artistic visions of choreographers Ashley Clos, Jocelyn Cottencin, Emmanuelle Huynh, Karole Armitage, Kay Colleymore and worked with performance artists such as Non Grata, Jim Pirtle and Y.E.T Torres. In 2023 Vik formed their ensemble, Aufheben, as an extension of their work and a container for experimental performance research instigating new training opportunities and performance opportunities from their personal research in Houston TX.
